Who we are

This website, www.lcc.ly, is operated by Libyan Cement Company ("LCC", "we", "us" or "our"), based in Hawari, Benghazi, Libya.

This policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit our website or contact us through it, how and why we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. We handle personal information in line with applicable law.

If you have any questions about this policy or about how we handle your information, email us at info@lcc.ly.

Information we collect

Information you give us. When you send us a message through our contact form, we collect the details you enter:

  • Your first name, and your last name if you give it
  • Your email address
  • Your phone number, if you give it
  • The subject of your message
  • Your message

Please only include the information we need to answer you, and avoid sharing sensitive details in your message.

Information collected with your message. We record the IP address your message was sent from, together with the date and time it arrived.

Information collected when you browse. Like most websites, the servers that host our site automatically receive basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request, and may keep it in server logs to keep the site running and secure. If you accept cookies in our cookie banner, our analytics and advertising partners may also collect information about how you use the site. See "Cookies and similar technologies" below.

How and why we use it

We use your information only for the purposes below, and we rely on the following reasons to do so:

  • To reply to your enquiry and follow it up. We do this in our legitimate interest in responding to the people who contact us, or because you have asked us to take steps before entering into a business relationship with us.
  • To keep the website and our contact form secure. We use your IP address to limit how many messages can be sent from one address and to prevent spam and abuse. This is in our legitimate interest in protecting our website and our team.
  • To understand how our website is used and how well our advertising works. We do this only if you have given your consent through our cookie banner.
  • To keep proper business records and meet our legal obligations. This is in our legitimate interest in running our business, or because the law requires it.

We do not sell your personal information.

Who we share it with

Your information is seen by the members of our team who need it to deal with your enquiry. We also use trusted service providers who handle it on our behalf and only on our instructions:

  • Hosting and infrastructure providers, who run our website.
  • Database and file storage providers, who store the messages sent through our contact form and the content of our site.
  • Email delivery and email hosting providers, who forward each message you send us, including your details and IP address, to our team's inbox and keep it there.

If you accept cookies in our cookie banner, our analytics and advertising partners also receive information about your visit, such as the pages you view and how you arrived at our site. They handle it under their own terms and privacy policies. If you refuse, they receive nothing from our website.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or where it is necessary to protect our rights, our website or other people. Apart from the analytics and advertising partners described above, which receive information only if you accept cookies, we do not share your information with anyone for their own marketing.

Processing outside Libya

Some of the service providers we use may store or process your information in countries outside Libya, where data protection rules may differ from those that apply here.

We rely on these providers to protect your information with appropriate safeguards, and we only share with them what they need to provide their service to us.

How long we keep it

We keep the messages you send us, and the details that come with them, for as long as we need them to respond to and follow up on your enquiry, and to keep legitimate business records.

If you ask us to delete your information, we will do so unless we are required to keep it.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you and receive a copy of it.
  • Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Delete your information.
  • Restrict how we use your information.
  • Object to our use of your information where we rely on our legitimate interests.
  • Transfer the information you gave us to you or to another organisation, in a commonly used format.
  • Withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on it. This does not affect anything we did before you withdrew it.

To make a request, email us at info@lcc.ly. We may need to confirm your identity before we act on it, and we will reply within a reasonable time. Some rights are limited where we are required to keep information. If you are not satisfied with our response, please tell us and we will look at it again.

Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. Similar technologies, such as your browser's local storage, work in much the same way.

Strictly necessary. Some storage is needed for the website to work, and does not require your consent. For example, we remember the choice you make in our cookie banner.

Analytics and advertising. Our website may use cookies and similar technologies from analytics and advertising partners to measure visits and how the site is used, such as which pages you view and how you scroll and click on them, and to measure how well our advertising works. These are switched on only after you accept them in our cookie banner. If you refuse, they stay off.

Changing your choice. Your choice is stored in your browser. To change it later, clear this website's stored data in your browser settings, and the banner will ask you again the next time you open a page on this website.

The fonts, images and videos on our website are served from our own domain. Apart from the analytics and advertising technologies described above, which load only after you accept them, we do not embed content from other services.

Children

Our website is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us at info@lcc.ly and we will delete it.

Keeping your information safe

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your information. Our website is served over an encrypted connection, and access to the messages sent through our contact form is limited to the people who need it.

No method of sending or storing information over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your information and to act promptly if a problem occurs.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example when we change how our website works or how we handle information. The current version is always the one published on this page, so please check this page occasionally.
