The Libyan Cement Company (LCC) has been carrying out upgrades at two of its plants. The Hawari 2 production line in Benghazi and renovations at the Al-Fataiah Cement Plant are both progressing. With Hawari 2 being operational, LCC expects to increase the amount of cement produced at the Benghazi plant, and to supply more to the local market. The team has been working to ready the electrical systems at the Benghazi plant ready to bring Hawari 2 back to life. One of the last jobs was to inspect and prepare the line’s electrical transformer, HAW2, so that power could be brought in. The electrical engineers and maintenance technicians carried out several inspections and tests to ensure the transformer and its equipment were ready. They also checked the electrical connections and circuits to ensure they were in good order. The plant’s Emergency and Safety Team was involved at every stage, ensuring the engineers carried out the work safely. The renovations at the administrative building of the Al-Fataiah Cement Plant are also close to being finished, it is being repaired and updated so that it is safer and more comfortable for the employees. Once the renovations are completed, staff will have a more organized and comfortable place to work. The work at the two plants is quite different, but both projects involve upgrading facilities LCC already owns. In Benghazi the team is working on restoring equipment that has been out of use for years and in Al-Fataiah it is working on upgrading the building where employees work. There is still a lot of work to do before Hawari 2 can be restarted, but the electrical preparations are progressing. The renovations are almost finished at Al-Fataiah and the administrative building is almost ready for normal operation. References: 1.Alushibe News. (2026, October 12).
