Libyan Cement Company is developing its Benghazi and Al-Fataih cement plants. Some major progress was reported at both plants. Engineers in Benghazi are working on the electrical system at Hawari 2 in a bid to get the production line back on stream. Meanwhile, the renovation work of the administrative building in Al-Fataih is almost complete. The team has been working on the Benghazi Cement Plant Hawari 2 electrical transformer. Before the transformer could be switched on the electrical maintenance engineers and technicians had to ensure that it was in a good condition and safe to use, and that all connections were made correctly. The plant’s Emergency and Safety Team was also involved, working with the engineers to oversee the process and make sure it was done safely. The transformer is part of a wider rehabilitation project at Hawari 2. The production line is not yet operational and there is more technical work to be done before it can get back to work, but when that happens, it is expected to increase the amount of cement the Benghazi plant is able to produce. There have also been advances at the Al-Fataih Cement Plant, although the work has been very different there. The renovation is to make the building more comfortable and practical for the employees who use it. It should also help avoid maintenance problems in the future and allow the building to remain in use for longer. Repairs have been coupled with a project to improve safety and the working environment in general. They might look like two very different projects but they are both about looking after the facilities LCC already has. At Hawari 2, that means checking and fixing the stuff that makes cement. At Al-Fataih, it’s about the building where the employees do their daily work. The work is very different from site to site for the teams involved. The Benghazi engineers are dealing with electrical equipment and the preparations to put a production line back into operation. At Al-Fataih, the focus is on completing the renovation and getting the administrative building ready for regular use. Hawari 2 has a long way to go before it can start producing cement again, but work is progressing on its electrical system. And at Al-Fataih, staff are getting closer and closer to working in an upgraded building. References: 1.Alushibe News. (2026, October 12).
